Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how SubTrackr (“the App,” “we,” “us”) handles information when you use our Android application. SubTrackr helps you track subscriptions, forecast renewals, and optionally use AI features to analyze your spending. We designed the App to store your subscription data primarily on your device.

By installing or using SubTrackr, you agree to this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.

Summary

• Subscription and chat data you enter is stored locally on your device (Room database and app preferences).
• We do not operate a SubTrackr account server or sell your personal data.
• AI features send prompts you initiate to third-party AI providers (Google Gemini and/or Anthropic Claude) when you configure API keys and use those features.
• Optional API keys you enter are stored on your device only.
• You can delete local data from Settings inside the App.

Information we process

Data you provide in the App

Depending on how you use SubTrackr, you may enter or generate:

• Subscription details (names, vendors, costs, billing cycles, renewal dates, categories, notes, tags)
• License/seat information where applicable
• Payment method labels (e.g., card descriptions you type — not full card numbers)
• AI chat messages and assistant replies stored in your local chat history
• App preferences (theme, base currency, selected AI engine)
• API keys for Google Gemini and/or Anthropic Claude, if you choose to add them in Settings

Data processed automatically on your device

• Derived calculations (monthly totals, renewal forecasts, anomaly summaries) based on your local subscription data
• Technical logs on your device via standard Android logging (not sent to us by default)

Network requests

The App requests INTERNET permission to:

• Call AI provider APIs when you use AI analysis or chat (with your configured keys)
• Load vendor logo images from URLs you associate with subscriptions (via image loading libraries)

Without configured API keys, AI features may use a limited on-device fallback and do not require cloud AI calls for basic responses.

How and where data is stored

Your subscription list, chat history, and settings are stored in a local database and app-private storage on your Android device. We do not sync this data to our own cloud servers.

Android may back up app data according to your device and Google account backup settings. See Google’s backup documentation. API keys and sensitive preferences may be included in device backups depending on your OS version and backup configuration.

Third-party AI services

When you enable AI features and supply API keys, prompts built from your subscription context and chat input are sent directly from your device to:

• Google — Gemini API (ai.google.dev)
• Anthropic — Claude API (anthropic.com/privacy), if you select that engine and provide a key

Those providers process data under their own terms and privacy policies. We do not control their retention or security practices. You are responsible for complying with each provider’s terms and for keeping your API keys confidential.

We do not receive your API keys on any server operated by us.

Sharing of information

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We may share information only in these cases:

• With your direction: when you use share/export features (e.g., sharing renewal summaries via Android share sheets)
• AI providers: as described above, when you use AI features with your keys
• Legal requirements: if required by law, regulation, or valid legal process
• Business transfers: if the App or its assets are acquired, subject to this policy

Analytics and advertising

SubTrackr does not include third-party advertising SDKs. We do not use Firebase Analytics or similar tracking in the current App build. Play Console may collect installation and crash statistics according to Google’s policies when you download the App from Google Play.

Retention and deletion

Data remains on your device until you delete it or uninstall the App. You can clear subscriptions and chat history from Settings in the App. Uninstalling SubTrackr removes local app data from your device (subject to Android backup copies).

Security

We use reasonable measures appropriate for a local-first mobile app, including Android app sandboxing and HTTPS for network calls to AI APIs. No method of storage or transmission is 100% secure. Protect your device with a screen lock and do not share your API keys.

Children’s privacy

SubTrackr is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided information through the App, contact us and we will help you remove it from the device.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict processing of your personal data. Because data is stored on your device, you can exercise many rights directly in the App or by uninstalling it. To make a request, email privacy@subtrackr.app.

International users

If you use AI features, your data may be processed in countries where Google or Anthropic operate servers. By using those features, you acknowledge that cross-border transfers may occur under those providers’ policies.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the revised version on this page and update the “Last updated” date. Continued use of the App after changes means you accept the updated policy.
